Maiden’s Hope
Teens in the Philippines do not always have the opportunity to attend school. Without a high school certificate, these young men and women will have no opportunities for employment. Consequently, they are often forced into prostitution or drug trafficking, just to survive. The Maiden's Hope Home opened in 2018 and provides a Christian home and an education for 16 of these young ladies, offering them hope for the future in this life and in eternity with God. We are very encouraged by the growth we have seen in the young ladies in the Maiden's Hope Home and are excited to see what God has planned for 2021. Contributions of any amount would be greatly appreciated and 100% of all donations will go directly to support the young ladies in the program.
MISSIONS UPDATE - JANUARY 17, 2025
Hi Ken,
Tom forwarded me your recent email update from Narrow Way and it was exciting to hear about all the growth happening there! So excited to see how God is using you to spread His Word! I love that your new building is close to campus too!
I wanted to share a few updates on Maiden’s Hope with you too. It was a very challenging but exciting year. We made some major changes by moving most of our students out of the original house and back home with their parents/grandparents. We discovered that many of our students were being selected by the pastor there because the parents were members of his church and it was financially beneficial to them to have the girls live with us. Sadly, this meant for many of the girls we were actually pulling them from their home rather than providing a home for a girl who needed one. After much prayer we ended up parting ways with Pastor William over this and other issues but God led us in a new direction. I contacted the pastor from Paradise Village church which is the congregation I have visited many times and actually helped with the construction of this church on my first trip to the Philippines. He and his wife were thrilled to be a part of Maiden’s Hope. I also contacted another young man(Paulo) whom I have stayed in touch with since my first trip. He is now 23 and has been raising his 2 younger siblings (ages 16 and 5) for most of their lives since both of his parents are in and out of prison. He also was excited to work with Maiden’s Hope. As a result we have modified our program now to have a home for 7 students, the 4 sisters who had no home to go to, and Paulo and his 2 siblings. We are also providing weekly food distributions and educational support for an additional 16 students who are living with their parents or grandparents but were not able to attend school. All of the students are now actively involved in churches. Several have accepted the Lord and all of them are growing in their faith. Many of the parents are also now attending church with their students. Because of this change we have also been able to accept some boys into our program. As I said it was a very challenging year and there were many times that I thought perhaps God was telling me it was time to end Maiden’s Hope but it seems he was just redirecting it a bit. It is such a blessing to know that even when I don’t understand God’s plan, I know He has one and will guide me through the difficulties. Thank you for your continued prayers. They are very much appreciated!
God Bless You More!
Carol
